The renowned British artist Andrew Ingamells has completed etchings of nine Oxford and Cambridge Colleges, with the support and endorsement of each institution. These works have met with enormous critical acclaim, and several editions have sold out on release.

There is nothing available by any contemporary artist that compares in quality to Ingamells’ images of individual buildings, and no one alive is producing such detailed and technically accomplished etchings of collections of buildings from an aerial perspective.

His chosen medium of copperplate etching is one that is virtually unchanged in over 500 years.  The prints are made in exactly the same way as those of Rembrandt and Goya, or more recently Picasso and Matisse.  They are produced in strictly limited editions by master printmakers, after which the plate is destroyed.

Academium Press is honoured that a print from this edition was selected to hang in the Office of the University Marshal of Harvard, and also in the west lobby of the Harvard Club of New York City.

Academium Press is an Anglo-American initiative working on an ambitious project to make etchings of major colleges and universities that have buildings of architectural interest.

The success of the series on both sides of the Atlantic inspired us to tackle the majestic architecture of the American Ivy League Schools, and we are proud to offer our latest etching: “Harvard Yard”.
